How does this work?

When a child loses a tooth, there usually isn't time to order a letter from the Tooth Fairy and wait for it to arrive in the mail. That's why we offer letters you can download, personalize and print right now!

Use a device that can access the internet.

You simply choose the letter(s) you like, checkout, receive your link via email and download to your PC, Mac® or mobile device. You are able to personalize the text of the letter any way you like, including the child's name. A sample message is included with each letter to help get you started. There are also other sample messages included on the website to help you quickly create a special letter for each child.

Each Tooth Fairy letter is created for use with versions of Microsoft Word® from 1997 to the present. You will need to have access to that program or a similar program to open, personalize and print your letters. See the next question below for more information.

Every Tooth Fairy letter I download is licensed. What does that mean and how does that affect me?

Tooth Fairy Tonight, LLC, our affiliates, subsidiaries and suppliers own intellectual property rights in the digital downloads.

You are given a personal license to download, use and edit the letters in specific ways. You agree to abide by the agreement prior to each download.

You may download each letter to one personal computer and one personal mobile device.

You will be able to download each letter a total of 5 times or over a period of 1 week, whichever comes first.

Example #1: You download a letter to a mobile device and a computer. You discover you accidentally deleted the letter from your computer and download it again. You have now used 3 of your 5 download attempts. You will have 2 download attempts left within 1 week of purchase.

Example #2: You download a letter to your computer, edit and print the letter for a special child. A couple of weeks goes by and you decide to download the letter to a mobile device. Even though you haven't reached your limit of 5 download attempts, you have reached the 1 week time limit. The download will not be allowed at that time.

We've tried to create a fair and balanced way for you to enjoy each Tooth Fairy letter while guarding against potential abuse.

The Agreement does not permit the installation of the letters on more than one computer at any given time, on more than one mobile device at any time, on a system that allows shared use of applications, on a multi-user network, or on any configuration or system of computers that allows multiple users.

You are encouraged to view the End User License Agreement in its entirety prior to making your purchase.

What kind of paper should I use when printing a letter?

The most common type of paper used in printers at home is multipurpose, white, usually 20lb. to 24 lb., 95 to 100 brightness, on an inkjet printer. This type of paper can be found at most office supply stores. We decided to have a little fun and experiment with this and other types of paper to see how they affect the overall look of our Tooth Fairy letters.

All tests were done with 8.5" x 11" paper on an inkjet printer.

Here's what we found:

  • Standard, white, multi-purpose paper found at most office supply stores, 20lb. stock with a 96 brightness.
    Recommended!

This paper works well and usually does not have any ink soak through of the paper. It works with inkjet and laser jet printers. It will produce the desired result of a nice looking letter with good color representation.

  • Digital copy paper, white, 28lb. stock with a 100 brightness.
    Recommended!

This paper displays the colors of our letters very well and is a little sturdier. This paper is a slightly heavier weight and shows bends and creases more than the 20lb. stock. This is a good choice if you're going to display the letter. Some of the Tooth Fairy letters will work better with this heavier weight paper, especially those with color-intensive backgrounds. It also works with inkjet and laser jet printers.

  • Digital copy paper, white, 60lb. stock with a 100 brightness.
    See recommendation details below.

This paper handles like a sturdy brochure, but not as thick and heavy as you would think. You wouldn't want to bend this paper as the crease would leave wrinkles. This paper works well with a few of our Tooth Fairy letters due to the color-intensive background. However, we found that this heavier weight stock paper may cause some minor imperfections in letters with less color in the background.

  • Resume paper, white, 24lb. stock, 100% cotton.
    NOT recommended!

The major drawback for this type of paper is that it usually contains some kind of manufacturer watermark. And the watermark could be in different positions on different pieces of paper. We found that the colors wash out and appear dull. This type of paper is not recommended for use with our letters.

  • Fine linen paper, white, 24lb. stock, 25% cotton.
    Recommended (watermark alert below)

We absolutely loved the linen paper look and feel along with the vibrant display of color from our letters. Once again though is the drawback of a manufacturer watermark. If you can find one without a watermark, this would be a good choice. Or you could just pretend that the watermark is some kind of special stamp from the Tooth Fairy. This paper also works with inkjet and laser jet printers.

  • Parchment paper, ivory, 24lb. stock.
Recommended (with special effect noted below)

This paper definitely has an old world flare that easily lends itself as coming from a place told of in fairy tales. The colors will wash out a bit and not be as bright as on the white stock paper. It is something different to try if you're looking for that special type of effect. There was no manufacturer watermark present. This paper works with inkjet and laser jet printers.

  • Parchment specialty cover paper, ivory, 65lb. stock.
    NOT recommended

This paper is very sturdy and also has an old world flare. The colors will wash out a bit with the ivory paper. The heavier paper stock also caused slight imperfections with our images. We do not recommend this type of paper for use with our letters.

We would love to hear your feedback if you've found other types of paper that work well. Let us know by sending a quick note on our Contact Page.

Why do the colors on my printed letter look different than what's on your website?

There are several reasons why colors may turn out slightly different than how they appear online.

  1. The color settings and monitor resolution may not be the same on different devices.
  2. Various operating systems and web browsers may have slight differences in color display.
  3. There may be color differences when using an inkjet vs. a laser jet printer.
  4. It could depend on the type of ink you're using. Manufacturer, OEM, refillable and generic ink may have slight color differences.
  5. As noted above, it could also depend on the type of paper you decide to use. This may create a dull or more vibrant look.
  6. It might depend on which program you're using to edit your letters.
  7. There may be slight color differences when using a mobile device vs. a laptop or desktop computer.

Our letters are designed in a colorful, fun and whimsical fashion for the enjoyment of children. There may be slight color differences from time to time due to a large variety of digital, software and hardware causes.
